A handbag is often functional and fashionably-designed.
Most commomly it is used to hold a number of items such as a wallet, keys, and tissues.
There are many styles of handbags: Purses are usually used exclusively by women, though men sometimes carry one as a smaller alternative to a backpack; such a Purse is sometimes self-consciously called a "murse" or "manbag". It can also be bluntly called a "man-purse".
A medium-to-small-sized bag with a short handle, designed to be carried (clutched) in one's hand is often described as a Clutch. A larger Purse with two handles, is often called a Tote.
A Pocketbook is similar to a Purse (in the British English sense), but has space for the carrying of sheets of paper as well. Purses are also made-up of zari, sterling silver, leather, cloth etc.
A security Purse is very handy to protect other types-your valuables from travel theft. The purse contains an invisible stainless steal strap built into the fabric and a top on the main zipper.

Satchel: Like all bags, Satchels are easily customised with patches and various other creative textiles. No one really knows when the Satchel was invented. Some people believe that it was invented as a small purse or "carry-sack" for women in the Middle Ages.
