A handbag is often functional and fashionably-designed.
In British English, a handbag is considerably larger than a Purse, which is a small money container similar to a wallet (but typically used by women) and including a compartment for coins.
Different types of handbags: Purses are traditionally employed by women, though men sometimes find one useful to replace a backpack; such a Purse is sometimes self-consciously termed a "murse" or "manbag". It can also be bluntly called a "man-purse".
A medium-to-small-sized bag with a short handle, designed to be carried (clutched) in one's hand is often called a Clutch. A larger Purse with two handles, is often referred to as a Tote.
A Pocketbook is similar to a Purse (in the British English sense), but allows for the carrying of sheets of paper as well. Purses are also made-up of zari, sterling silver, leather, cloth etc.
A security Purse is helpful to protect styles-the carrier from travel theft. The purse includes an invisible stainless steal strap built into the framework and a protectant to cover the zip.
Other types of handbag include :
Hobo: Hobo bags are popular among Hollywood celebrities who favor the bohemian, or boho-chic, style familiarized by such celebrities as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Sienna Miller, and Joss Stone.
Satchel: Like all bags, Satchels are easily customised with patches and various other creative textiles. No one really knows when the Satchel was invented. Some people believe that it was invented as a small purse or "carry-sack" for women in the Middle Ages.
Other types of Handbag include:
The Duffle: A large bag commonly used for travel or sports, The Shopper, and The Cross body.
