A handbag is nearly always functional and fashionably-designed.
In American English, a handbag is called a Purse (a small bag).
There are many styles of handbags: Purses are generally employed by women, though men sometimes
find one useful to replace a backpack; such a Purse is sometimes self-consciously referred to as a
"murse" or "manbag". It can also be bluntly called a "man-purse".
A medium-to-small-sized bag with a short handle, designed to be carried (clutched) in one's hand
is often referred to as a Clutch. A larger Purse with two handles, is often referred to as a
Tote.
A Pocketbook is similar to a Purse (in the British English sense), but allows the carrying of
sheets of paper as well. Purses are also made-up of zari, sterling silver, leather, cloth etc.

A security Purse is made to protect types-one from travel theft. The purse has an invisible
stainless steal strap built into the fabric and a top on the main zipper.
Some different handbag types are :
Hobo: Hobo bags are made out of soft, flexible materials and tend to slump, or slouch, when set
down.
Satchel: A satchel is a bag used by many people to carry books, and other objects in. It has a
one large strap that goes over one shoulder and across the body.
