A handbag is commonly both functional and fashionably-designed.
In British English, a handbag is considerably larger than a Purse, which is a small money container similar to a wallet (but typically used by women) and including a compartment for coins.
Variations of handbags: Purses are traditionally carried by women, though men sometimes find one useful to replace a backpack; such a Purse is sometimes self-consciously labelled as a "murse" or "manbag". It can also be bluntly called a "man-purse".
A medium-to-small-sized bag with a short handle, designed to be carried (clutched) in one's hand is often described as a Clutch. A larger Purse with two handles, is often referred to as a Tote.
A Pocketbook is similar to a Purse (in the British English sense), but can be used for the carrying of sheets of paper as well. Purses are also made-up of zari, sterling silver, leather, cloth etc.
A security Purse is especially good to protect other types-a person's belongings from travel theft. The purse takes advantage of an invisible stainless steal strap inside the framework and a top to cover the zip.
