A handbag is practically always functional and fashionably-designed.
In British English, a handbag is considerably larger than a Purse, which is a small money container similar to a wallet (but typically used by women) and including a compartment for coins.
Variations of handbags: Purses are typically used exclusively by women, though men sometimes carry one as a smaller alternative to a backpack; such a Purse is sometimes self-consciously referred to as a "murse" or "manbag". It can also be bluntly called a "man-purse".
A medium-to-small-sized bag with a short handle, designed to be carried (clutched) in one's hand is often called a Clutch. A larger Purse with two handles, is often called a Tote.
A Pocketbook is similar to a Purse (in the British English sense), but can be used for the carrying of sheets of paper as well. Purses are also made-up of zari, sterling silver, leather, cloth etc.
A security Purse is great to protect other types-the carrier from travel theft. The purse uses an invisible stainless steal strap inside the framework and a top to cover the zip.
Guide to types of Handbags :
Hobo: This style of Purse is called a Hobo bag because it resembles the shape of the bindle on a stick that Hobos are portrayed as carrying over their shoulder in drawings and cartoons.
Satchel: Like all bags, Satchels are easily customised with patches and various other creative textiles. No one really knows when the Satchel was invented. Some people believe that it was invented as a small purse or "carry-sack" for women in the Middle Ages.
Other types of Handbag include:
The Duffle: A large bag ordinarily used for travel or sports, The Shopper, and The Cross body.
